hiya all.
a friend of mine(in ny) is getting a russian tortie from a reptile shop near me(lllrep.) so im going to pck one up for her and ship it to her(ive shipped many a water turtle across the u.s. so far)...
well,we decided its a great deal to get a pair,so she's gonna send money for two and i'm going to keep one.
well, ive never had a tortoise(only water turtles and a boxie) so im looking for some advice/ideas.
i live in southern california(oceanside to be exact) so its rather warm most the time(we sure can have our cold spells though.) and i have my sde yard gated off from the back yard and front yard.
the full size of the side yard is 20' by 11'.
i have a pond enclosure taking a 12' by 4' chunkout of the side yard aswell as a 4' by 4' mulch bin.
i was thinking that untill i get a permanent enclosure made i could keep him in one of those 5' round kiddie pools?
what woud be a good size for a permanent enclosure, how deep into the ground and how talll should the walls be?
(i was thinking an enclosure with a base along the bottom to prevent escapes and than substrate ontop of the base).
anyone have advise, pictures or set-up ideas to give me?
; )
