Yup that is alot and I'm very concerned about it but when it has had its share it walks away. It does not eat big chunks but shaves the cuttlebone. I also select a low density cuttlebone. (the feed store hates me because I go through their entire stock to select 20 of the largest, lightest, most complete and purest in color)(Yea, I know that falls under the heading of get a life) I also remove the hard backing. I think the water availability and high temperature is also very important (I think so). Coupled with the active UV heat bulb this guy has tripled in size in the last year and the shell is very noticably more firm. When you do a tap test it goes tap and not thump. (sound silly but try it with any youngsters you have)(it has to do with bone density under the outer shell.) Believe me, I'm watching this guy very closely. It has not seen natural sunlight in the last year and gets nothing but store bought greens. (you can see where i'm going with this)(You can also be sure I will post if I fail).
BTW the guy is 130mm or just under 5 inches. January it was just over 2 inches. (ok, not tripple but over double)
