There are presently rules governing the proper shipping of ALL live animals. The governing body is IATA which is basicly an agreement of the airline carriers to ship animals in a humane manor under very strict guidelines. Most exporters realize that if they would like to stay in business in todays political climate they better adhear to these guidelines and most do. Those that do not end up in the limelight as media fodder for the 'bunny huggers'. Much of the stuff Jason is using is from animals intended for the food trade (although not all). The pictures are of confescations that did not abide by the rules. It's funny that no pictures were shown of the many animals that were shipped under very acceptable conditions.
(its also funny how one phrase keeps popping into mind as I try to have some fun participating on these lists. Don't judge least ye be judged. (or something like that.))
In case you are interested, I believe we should be allowed to take and keep animals out of the wild. I also believe it should be regulated and controlled.
