Hope you guys can read that in the paper, I was so
excited! There was a picture too, but you can only
see some of us. We took Teddy in the cat carrier,
and also brought: his portable metal pen (good idea
to keep the dogs away, he was feeling pretty confident
in that, walking around and basking while the people
spoke on the intercom), a large rubbermaid box with
newspaper in it (I didn't know if he was going to get
out, so in case he couldn't, he would have been
able to walk around in the back of the van in that
for a while, it's the big square one for wreaths),
paper towel rolls, empty trash bags, extra towel
for carrier and water for all, plus lawn chairs.

It was about a 1 1/2 hour trip each way, and he
did well in the car. He was really super cute there,
of course, being the only tortoise, he stole the
show almost! lol I was glad he was not frightened
and kept his head out and walked around the whole
time, and when we held him, he was looking right
at the man. Even let a stranger pet him!
I think it was fun for my son, he was keeping a
watchful eye on the dogs though! He's thrilled
to be mentioned in the paper (again, this is his
third time).

Basically the part about us said,

"A congregation of the feathered, furry, and shelled
met peacefully Sunday for the annual Blessing of
the Animals.

Dogs, cats, a bird, and a tortoise and about 50 adults and
children gathered in the garden of the Good Shepherd
Pet Crematory and Cemetary for the event.

"Theodore" the tortoise made the trip all the way
from Fayetteville with his young owner Thomas Cutler,
to receive an individual blessing from the Rt. Rev. Randy
Foster, an Episcopal priest. "May the blessing
of God who created you, the Father, the Son and
the Holy Spirit be upon you and upon those with
whom you dwell," he said with his hand raised
above the pet.

I just wanted to share! niki
