In Reply to: Dry Pellets for Tortoise Food? posted by Karen on September 09, 2000 at 23:24:11:

There are several brands of dry tortoise pellets,
they're usually not considered to be super great
for them to eat because they are high in protein,
which for Sulcatas is not good. I sometimes feed
my sulcata some of this mixed with other foods,
especially on cruddy days when he can't get out,
and no matter what I mix into this, he'll eat it!
I always soak the pellets in warm water (shut up
Giovanni! lol) for a few minutes, then drain the
water and voila!
Brand with lowest protein is "Pretty Pets" which
I use. It's about 8%
Others brand are higher up to 20% for RepCal I think.

Try to get Pretty Pets, and when "diluted" with
water isn't too bad occasionally as a junk food.
