basking heat

I have a ceramic infrared heater on one corner of my greek torts. Should I leave this on all night or turn it off at night? Also does anyone prefer these to lights, or vice versa. The average temp within the enclosure is about 80 with it on, cooler on one side and hotter under the lamp. With this off at night it will probably get to about 72 or so. I do have a heating mat at the same end with the lamp, and leave that on 24 hours. Thanks for you advice, and sorry so long.... :)
