Bill or Billie

I have owned a Russian Tort for 6+ years. I think it is a boy, but not sure. Its never mated, but I notice on ocassion a white fluid in his/her water. Is it what I think it is? How do I determine his/her age. Any inexpensive designs for a comfortable habitat. I need to keep him indoors, since I don't have the luxury of a yard or balcony. He/she definetly has outgrown his/her tank. He/she is about 7" long and 4.5" wide. He/she has been heard hissing, but loves when I let him/her out in our apt. Yesterday he/she was naughty and hid from me. My family looked at me as if crazy when I couldn't find him/her and cried. What do they know (bleeeep!). Can you help me make him/her happier?
