Fruits are very high in sugar. They provide energy but no nutritional value even to tortoises. It would seem that these little guys are mainly grazers/browzers. Given the option, it would seem they would provide to graze. I've observed them eating dried leaves in addition to grazing on grass.
Another idea provided by a friend not too long ago was that instead of feeding them fruit, prepare a spray out of the juice of the fruit that they like and spray it on stuff like dark leafy greens and grasses and the stuff you know they need.
I think most will agree that fruit for any tortoise as a staple is a no-no.
