Watery eyes are not a problem per say. If her eyes are (watery and swollen) she probubly has a vitamin A deficiency. Tetrafauna makes a wonderful product called turtle clear eyes. A drop in each eye every day for three weeks should remedy the problem. Keep watch for runny nostrals that's a sign of a respiratory infection. If she blows bubbles out her nose see a vet. My Vet. who studied under some of the best tortoise Vets. in the country recommended feeding my redfoots a diet of raw fruit and vegetables rich in leafy greens such as kale no lettuce, two or three times a week. Small amounts of dry dog food is also good but not to much. I give my redfoots water every day in the summer when they are outside. In the winter when they are inside I give them water every other day. Feeding is the same year round. Redfoots are tropical animals and need to be kept warm. They can stand temperatures down to 50 degrees F. but only for a short time. If they are outside in the summer the need for supplemental light is questionable, but it couldn't hurt. I don't give supplemental light to mine when I bring them in for the Winter and they are very healthy. I hope this helps.
: Hello...I just purchased a Granada Redfoot Tortoise, and I want to make sure I take good care of her. I am not exactly sure what her heat/light requirements are, how often I should feed her, her water needs, etc. Also, she seems to have very watery eyes all the time. Is this normal?
: Any information will be extremely helpful!! Thanks... Katie
