Not too long ago I purchased two juvenile sulcatas and have done much reading and web browsing to determine what the best substrates, decor, plants and foods were best for sulcatas. I believe I am pretty confident in what vitamins and foods a sulcata's diet should comprise of, but I am baffled at the wide range of opinions involving substrates that exist. I have read endless numbers of books and have exhausted all internet info, and can only now seek the advise of everyday sulcata owners. I am asking anyone to please give me any suggestions as to what substrate is best for sulcatas. I wanted to you use sand only because as I researched sulcatas in a field studies way, I found that most sulcatas exist naturally in dessert, sandy, dry environments. So I couldn't understand why sand would be harmful if sulcats were and have been able to exist for so long in the wild without being harmed by intestinal impaction. Technically couldn't you avoid said condition by placing all food items in dishes.?????
