:There is a big difference between tortoise and turtle. In my opinion turtles are far more difficult to care for. Feeding them can become expensive and the habitat has to be kept up on a daily basis. Plus in some states you can't buy Red eared sliders.
I think that if a person wants a tortoise it is wrong to re-direct that person to a different animal. No person should want a pet just to have a pet. You choose a pet because the animal interests you. If someone really wants a tortoise they need to have good advice so they can make an informed decision on what to purchase.
