I've read that tortoises will gnaw at bones, and even white stones, in the wild. I don't know if it's because of the color (white), or because they are actually chewing off small bone pieces for its calcium, or for some other reason. I'd think russians are too small to be able to do any damage to a thick elk bone. Maybe something smaller, like a bird skeleton. I wouldn't offer bones anyway, because what if they did eat it and got a splinter stuck in their intestinal tract, or choked? (Just like being careful with your dogs and bones.) My opinions only, but I'd stick with the cuttles, especially because they're soft and powdery compared to bones.

: My husband killed an elk (2 years ago) I found a part (bone - guess was part of skull or something)
: Since bone is calcium --
: would this also be considered ... comparable to cuttlebone.
: I know dumb question... But I have this thing and if it can be of ANY use.... (for torts, Russians particularly)
