the reason why i stated a size that would be appropriate to sex a redfoot/yellowfoot, is that is is this factor that makes it possible to tell. age and size don't always go hand in hand. i've seen 12 year old redfoots that weren't quite 8 inches in carapace length. i've also seen 10 year old redfoots that are 15 inches in carapace length. many factors influence the growth rate of a tortoise, thus why size is more important. i just wanted to provide a little more understanding for you both :)
