Hi Barb,
I asked the same question about my redfoot tortoise. Redfoots and yellowfoots are very similar, so I would guess the answer for you is the same as it was for me. If your yellowfoot is a juvenile, you will not be able to tell his gender for several years. This is one answer I received: "generally, with redfoots, you can determine their sex when they reach about 6-8 inches in carapace length. At this point males will have a smaller/narrower "v" in the back of the carapace, and will have a much longer tail (vent closer to the tip)." The other answer I received stated that the tortoise must reach about 8 years old before gender could reliably be determined.
: Hi,
: I need to know how to be able to tell the sex of the yellow foot tortiose. If there are more then one way to tell please list all of the ways to tell the sex of each.
: Thank you
: Barb
