If you soak your Russian for 10min every week or two he should be getting enough water-- remember he gets alot of water from his food. But I would put a water dish in just in case.
I feed Skippy a variety of greens, the more variety the better,( I buy a pre-mixed salad). to this i add some grated carrots and chopped timothy hay. occasionally I add flowers as a treat--- Rose (hips and all), hybiscus, hollyhock, dandelion. The ammount I feed is about the size of a small dinner salad. If Skippy eats all of it, I'll give I'll give him more in the evening. Skippy is not a very thin tortoise, I may have to put him on a diet again this year!
I almost never feed him fruit, maybe a little bit of melon, but that is few and far between.
When it comes to vitamins I use them very sparingly, maybe once a week or twice a week. I think that too much vitamin could be harmfull, but I have no proof of this.
