Don't know where you live, but if it is hot...
Could be the reason.
mine goes back and forth... One day he eats really good (like he did when I first got him about 2 1/2 mos ago) and the next couple days only eats enough to stay alive... He is pooping and active - when he is not napping - comes out later in the day when it is cooler. I think he is just fine... But you might what to check out those posts. Let me know if they help!

I've had a Russian tortoise since May. He is now eating only about 1/3 of the amount he used to. Is this normal because of the time of year, or could it be an indication that he is sick?
