If he seems otherwise o.k. (still urinating and defecating normally, no RNS etc)it could simply be his normal biological clock taking effect. Russians in the wild are often only active and feeding for about three months of the year, the other nine is spent either aestivating or hibernating.
Is he wild caught ?

: I've had a Russian tortoise since May. He is now eating only about 1/3 of the amount he used to. Is this normal because of the time of year, or could it be an indication that he is sick?
