Wang.
All Asian species of Tortoises and Turtles are extremely endangered, some on the brink of extinction. Unfortunately this is due to over collecting for the food markets in China and other Asian countries, where turtle meat is a very popular food item.
I think many people would be hesitent to send chelonians into China for that very reason, fearing they would end up on the dinner plate.

To be honest I think that Asian countries need to worry about conserving their own species, before thinking about importing others.

Look at the Kadoorie shipment, all those tortoises and turtles were headed straight to the food markets. And that was just one shipment. Asian species can't survive this mass collecting of wild turtles, destined for the soup pot.

I do realise that there are people in Asia who are interested in keeping chelonians.Serious keepers and hobbyists.
But after shipping expenses etc you'd probably pay the same for any torts exported from the US, maybe more as cb. torts produced right there in China. The dealer needs to make their money too.

But before choosing imports it would be great if more Asian keepers worked with native species, ones that are in dire need of conservation.

This is just my opinion, in no way meant to insult anyone.
