I have 3 kids and 2 torts. The children don't have any responsibility in the tort care. (Except gathering dandilions). The 9 yr old "baby sits" them for me when I have the torts roaming the yard. The youngest is 2. She is totally supervised when my tort are out. She can touch the back of the shell and likes to play "peak a boo" with them. As a two year old, it is very hard for her that mommy won't let her love on them. I also have to watch that she doesn't throw anything into the enclosure (she wanted to share her juice with them). You have to be VERY careful!
