I think it really depends on the species (or maybe it's their personality and past upbringing). My t.ibera reacts very quickly to my voice and will immediately start towards me (because I bribe him with food!). My sulcatas react to my voice, but not near as quickly as my t.ibera. My russians will watch me, but usually won't move.
