Giovani is lucky, my torts don't respond to me calling their names or whistling!
They only respond when they can actualy see me, there's no doubt that their vision is well developed.I can walk up behind them calling their name, nothing, until they see me.
They also depend on their sense of smell a great deal.
" They lack any external ear opening, although the tympanic membranes are clearly visable as patches covered by skin, on both sides of the head behind the eyes. Their auditory apparatus appears to be most responsive to low notes, in the range of 60 - 100 Hz in the case of the green turtle ( Chelonia mydas)."
