: Hi!!! I would like to know which substrate is the better for my
: leopard??? Zoo Med's Repti-Sand or Lizard Litter Desert Blend???
: If I'm not mistaken, the lizard litter is made of crushed walnut
: shells, so I'm leaning towards the Repti-Sand....but in any case,
: I am hoping for some better informed insight.

: Thanks all,

: Siobhan!!

I use the subject product for the following reasons: it is a pellet compressed from 2 or 3 grasses grown in the Northwest US. It has tremendous moisture absorption ability, which I have used for Russians and currently use for a Hermann's tort. Since it is a grass, it is actually beneficial to the tortoise and not at all harmful if eaten. Similar to cat litter, you can see it puff up like marshmallows when wet and simply scoop out, leaving the rest. I buy mine at Petco on the shelf in the bird section, don't know if they have a website.
