Not to make thinks worse for you. I am a trapper in my free time. I can tell you a racoon would not have a problem consuming a juvenile redfoot. It may seen the shell would protect the tortise. A racoons hands are basically like a monkey/humans only very small and able to extract an unfortunate tortise from its shell. Let this be a lesson to use a protective covering over your enclosures!
As a side note, many locations have folks around that will trap problem wildlife around your home. If you own land, many times they will do this in exchange for permission to let them trap on your land. Others charge a small fee.
