: While on a one week vacation the house sitter feed about two weeks worth of "Salad Mix" to Flower, the family sulcata. She then gave him/her/it string beans, exclusively, for two days. Flower loves them. But I haven't seen any mention; good or bad, about string beans for a sulcata. What do you think? THX BLP
String beans are not a recommended food for torts. I've even seen them labeled as *never* foods due to their high protein content and the fact they bind the calcium your tort so badly needs (so that the calcium can't be absorbed). I have heard about keepers who use a string bean to give their tort a dose of medicine. They inject the medicine into the bean and the tort gobbles it right down because they love the beans so much. But, I think the overwhelming opinion is they should be a *rarely, if ever* food.
