Cindy,
I bought a 10-gallon Thompson seedless grape plant at HomeBase for about $16 and planted it for the torts. Right now it's fenced, but after it flourishes and the chemicals are cleansed out of it, I'm going to open it to the torts. They're not pancakes, but they love the leaves! I'm sure yours will too. Another good and plentiful food is some sort of melon or squash. My torts love the vines and blossoms from my cantaloupe and pumpkin plants.
