Would you really call the 8 pounder after 2 years slow and steady by some folks standards. This is one of the points I am trying to get across. Rate is overrated (by some).
: : How long will it take for a 3.5" sulcatta to reach 10inches under proper conditions? What is the maximum growth rate without shell pyramiding occuring?
: There is really no telling how your tort will grow. Torts (especially the larger species) grow at such different rates...I have 2 sulcatas that are clutchmates. They're 2 years old now. They both live outside year round, eat the same diet (natural foods through grazing only--no store bought greens). When I got them they were basically the same size. Now, one is about 3-1/2lbs and the other is nearly 8lbs. Exact same conditions! Sorry for the non-answer, but slow and steady growth is the best. Just enjoy him while he's small; it won't be much longer!
