I've heard before about people noticing some white lines between the scutes but not the underbelly. Could be the water, if so, shouldn't be a big deal but you can use some sort of water softener filter probably to clear that up.

About the protein (worms) I wouldn't worry about it too much..it's nature...as long as you aren't feeding extra.
