In Sept of 99, I purchased a hatchling leopard tortoise. I orignially did not worry much about his slugishness and lack of growth, as I am used to aquatic turtles and know that they grow much faster. However, I purchased another hatchling in January of this year. Initially, the new one was smaller than the first, but now has surpassed him in size, showing a considerably faster growth rate. It aslo tends to be more active and eat more. I am worried now, as my first hatchling is more or less a year old, and hardly seems any bigger than when I got it. Both hatchlings live in the same enclosure and eat the same food, so I have ruled out diet and temp as problems. Can anyone tell me about how big a one year old leop tort. should be, and what could be a factor in "stunted" growth? Thanks.
