I got Buttercup last November, so I don't know her history. I'm sure she's an import, but whoever initially had her did a good job taking care of her and getting her acclimated.

In the winter (I live in the cold Northeast), her "den" is a covered dog crate with a 100 watt bulb (what the cat is basking under), a UVB strip and a heating pad underneath her hide box in the back. She's got a shallow dish of water and gets a mix of greens - collards, mustard, etc. and grass when the snow allows it. I supplement with a pinch of RepCal and Herptivite about 3 times a week.

Now that it's summer, she has an outdoor pen in my vegetable garden, which has clover, collards, mustard, beans, plantain (weeds) and a couple different type of grasses. I bring her in if our evenings get a bit cool and damp, as they are right now. There's a shallow dish of water out there, as well as half a cat carrier as a hide area, which she never uses. She prefers to park herself amidst the weeds and hunkers down.

I give her a good long soak once a week, which is usually when she poops... a lot...

She's so friendly and fearless - really the best a Leopard Tortoise should be.
