I started using it originally on geckos because it sticks well to crickets. I was also using the stuff long before I found out it was actually a very good balanced formula.
I worked for a dealer in the 70s who came up with the idea of packaging a vitamin for reptiles. It was called Reptimin (I don't know if it is the same stuff that is around now). I once asked him how he came up with the formula. This is how it wen. He had a friend who was a pharmacists. He mentioned to the friend that the vitamin had to have D3 and calcium and whatever else he though might be necessary for a herp. So his friend threw this mix together and labeled it. Then put a wholesale price of about 3 bucks for 2 oz. (an ungodly amount in the 70s) and sold it with his reptiles. I believe this was one of the first. (started in NY)
