Collards kick a**. Next to mustard greens, I believe they have the best calcium:phosphorus ration (as anyone who keeps iguanas knows). They are a MUST for iguanas, and should be a primary ingredient for those of us in the Northeast as a vegetation supplement to grass.
The food you feed depends on what kind of tortoise you have, but in general, dark leafy greens, grasses and solid vegetables would be standard for herbivorous torts.
Romaine is not that nutritional, and carrots actually have a fair amount of oxcilates, which inhibit calcium from being absorbed. Grape nuts are a totally inappropraite food.
Tomatoes are good for a lot of torts, squash, peppers, beans *but not too much), peas, a little bit of fruit on occasion - all good supplements to the dark leafy greens and grass.
