Hi Laura,
I'm new to russians, I have two, only had them for a few weeks.
They are housed outdoors ( Hawaii)it gets hot during the day around mid to high 80's low 90's, but very hot in direct sun.
Mine come out in the morning and go into hiding during the hottest part of the day.
They go into the shade under the hedge which runs along the back of their enclosure.
In the afternoon it's back out for any food they missed first time around. Then in the evening they dig under the dry leaf piles I provide ( under the hedge) for the night.
They are very active and have shown no interest in estivating.

Terry.
