The CITES post sparked this one...
Anyone breed any turtles/tortoises covered under your state's
wildlife regulations? Had any bad experiences with any of these?
The state of Missouri grants the right to own five of the same
native reptiles w/o commercial license. So sadly alot of breeders
operate outside of the laws and when they are caught its results in
a saddening experience for both humans and reptiles.
Case in point:
A breeder (personally known) was made to destroy not release his
entire years cb clutch of blacksnakes. He offered to release them or
donate them but the WF&G officer had him destroy roughly 20 snakes.
He broke the law and the animals paid, not fair in my book.
