First I apologize for creating a new post, but the other is getting
rather far down the list and the more we can discuss it the more
we'll learn.
If pyramiding occurs because the "nutritional availability out paces
the calcium availabilty" then this atleast to me would imply that
by simply adding a calcium suppliment to a captive diet ( by captive
I mean a diet composed of non-native flora used in substitution
for native "wild" flora ) you'd never experience pyramiding.
This is simply false.
Protein = pyramiding is a true statement but so is:
Lack of calcium during periods of increased growth unrelated to
the absorbtion of complex or simple amino acids. In which case
the available calcium would be stripped from the existing skeletal
structure. (this also causes "soft shell")
excessive protein causes pyramiding, lack of calcium causes pyramiding,
lack of D3 causes pyramiding. What else? could there possibly be
sometime yet unknown which causes pyramiding?
I personally believe so. The chemical structure of an organism
is complex enough for me too believe this to be far more complex.
I welcome ALL options.... please post below
Thanks
