You need to ask yourself a question, 1st is your tort able to aclimate itself to new surroundings easily, is it healthy and can you provide the right set up for it?

If you want to take it camping, get 5 pieces of 2inch x 6 inch x 5 ft long pieces of wood, fix them together on a flat piece of ground in a big square, with the last 2X6 acting as an over hang on one end for shade. This will be a suitable outdoor temp. for your russian (assuming he is the type of tort that will travel well). Of course bring him in at night.

We take our torts everywhere with no ill effects, and if you want to you should. Our torts are heavily handled and very friendly, spoiled to death and love people. I hope this interstate transit ban lifts, because I know my largest sulcata loves going to the Great Smokey Mountains in the summertime to graze, in fact he's pissed he's not here now..lol

Giovanni & Mistress
