Hamster mites are about 1 tenth the size of fleas. They cannot live on humans but they are opportunistic and usually dig in around tight clothing areas. Belt line, bra line, sock line, etc.
Pest strips use dichlorvos as an active ingredient and in low doses it's lethal to mites. In large doses, it's lethal to humans.
Sevin dust will control and contain the mites but will not usually erradicate them.
Ivermectin is the choice of your local Vet. Effective but expensive.
Your snake can also cure the problem....
