: I checked with my vet and he said that you can use "frontline" (a tick "shampoo" on the turtles) It is sold at vets and is for dogs, but is safe on turtles. I wanted to pass this along for anyone else who may find it useful.
Frontline (aka topspot) IS NOT labeled for use in exotics. It is not a shampoo, it is topical "drops" applied to the base of dogs or cats necks for prevention of flea and tick ATTACHMENT, it has little, if any repelling properties for ticks. It has also been know to cause liver problems in some dogs as a side effect. This product works by being absorbed through the skin of the dog/cat and is then distibuted through the oil glands of the entire body. READ THE PACKAGE - it also advises owners to use gloves when applying...does this sound like a product for use on turtles? I don't even use it on my dog, and I work for a vet clinic! Again, I state the SAFEST thing to do is runtinly check your animals and remove ticks manually w/ in a 24 hour time period.

p.s - any complications/illness your turtles may encounter due to off label use will not be covered in anyway by the manufacturer..if in dought, call the 800 number on the package.
