If visible light reflects into a shaded area does Ultra Violet light also reflect into the shade? Does a tortoise in the shade get any benefit from natural sun light?
Hmm...well, I can get sunburnt in the shade from sun reflected off of water, pavement or sand. Don't know how that applies to a tortoise in the shade.
I think the tortoise would benefit just from being outside, but that still wouldn't be a replacement for direct sunlight for basking.
: Question #2-- If you have kept your tortoise inside all winter, come summer time is there any chance of your pet getting sunburn?
I don't know, but in 20 years of turtle keeping, I've yet to observe a sunburnt tortoise.
Plant some aloe vera just in case. : )
