Matt, Do you have any empirical data as to total numbers broken down by subspecies which were exported? Failing that, a good estimate. I agree totally that a critical mass of specimens needed to end up in viable ex situ breeding groups, but this is now out of control. It wasn't 3 years ago when Prank was getting several thousnad per animal, ensuring very serious dedication. Over priced and out of reach to most expereinced breeders, that changed recently and to my knowledge, ceertainly not comprehensive, I now know of 7 viable breeding groups, however, just look at other forums and see who is now getting Pyxis. LIke I said this is now out of control and population decimation to this extant now REQUIRES responsible herpoculture to ensure captive breeding as a last resort. Obviously an inferior alternative to healthy in situ populations, but this is the age of complete environmental rape.
