: Well, as far as oxalic acid's effect on calcium absorbtion, it IS documented in humans. When you have a broken bone, you will find this out from your doctor.

Doctors who I have spoken with disagree. They feel oxalics do not rob the body of usable calcium. Anyway how often does medical science change?

: Overall, though, this seems like just an impish slap in the face to what has been learned through trial and error over the course of several years. The foods you are selecting are not even cheaper than the recommended foods, and since you appear to plan on keeping it outdoors, etc.. graze shouldn't be a problem either. There is no scientific study that feeding a dog carrots and celery as it's diet is detrimental. I still won't be doing that to my dog, though, as it's contrary to years of dog raising experience. It sounds like you just have issues with folks on the forums or online in general, and are going to abuse an animal to upset them.

Carrots are good for dogs, despite what your years of dog raising experience tell you. Thank you, you have just pointed out exactly why more research needs to be done with tortoises and oxalics.
