Unless you cram a whole cuttlebone down your tortoises’ throat you cannot overdose your tortoise on cuttle bone. If your tortoise has access to UV the body will assimilate what it needs and pass the unused portion which is why I always recommend calcium carbonate. I suggest taking a butter knife and scraping about a 1/4 ounce over the food at every feeding. If you are not giving D3 with the meal you should have no concern of overdosing the little guy on calcium. Growing hatchlings use a great deal of calcium to grow.
