An initial visit is always recomended. Follow ups... weellllllll... That's another story. At 35 plus bucks a visit I wonder if it is really necessary. If you start getting paranoid about the deal you will drive yourself totally nuts. Do take precautions. (washing hands, isolating new acquisitions and the like) Don't get fanatical. One argument for this is that the animal needs to build it's own immune system (within reason.)
To answer your question, if it is doing well and there is no reson for you to suspect something is wrong, enjoy. (if it anit broke don't fix it).
I lost a tortoise not too long ago. I had it for 9 years (got it as an adult). Spent $400.00 to find out what killed it. Result: Old age. That is the results when the animal is totally taken apart with tissue samples and necropsy. What do you think the result would be if you took a healthy looking tortoise to a vet for a general check up. Save it for when it is in need.
