i'm in florida also. i've just picked up a female, and will be getting a male.i was just wondering if hibernation is neccessary

: Mating behavior doesn’t necessarily mean eggs. More than likely you have missed the egg laying season for your hermann’s tortoises. Every area is a little different due to climate conditions and environmental triggers but I wouldn’t expect you to get eggs until late fall or winter in Florida or early spring. It is normal to see mating behavior through out the active seasons (much of the year in Florida). Perhaps there are breeders in Florida with egg laying dates for hermann’s tortoises in Florida. In my area I have never had eggs laid past May (eggs laying between November and May). I have bred hermann’s tortoises for the past 15 years. Good luck
