Thats not true! I have to stand up for Jersey here. You can buy and sell cornsnakes in NJ, it just requires a permit so that they can regulate them. Also, in NJ it's not illegal to own tortoises/turtles, it's just illegal to sell them. I work in a pet store and I can't sell them. If I was to go out of state and buy a bunch and try to sell them here it would be illegal, very illegal. A long time ago there was a big salmonella scare, probably cause some kids were licking their turtles or something. Anyway, I feel as though the risk of salmonella from animals like iguanas is much more of a threat. I wish they would take back the law, but they definetly won't . They are actually quite strict about it.
