: You all have no idea how lucky you are that you can just walk into a local pet shop and buy a turtle or tortoise. Here in New Jersey the selling of tortoises and turtles is illegal. Because of risk of salmonella. After doing tons of research, I have decided that I would like to purchase a Russian tortoise. My challenge now is how to get one. I can go out of state, but I would like to order one from an online breeder. My question is: Does anyone have any experience from ordering tortoises off line? And if so, can you reccomend a place? I have found a couple of places that look pretty reliable, but I am still nervous about ordering.
Do what I did, move to Florida. The weather is much better for husbandry down here. On the other hand I would be careful if you are thinking of doing something illegal. I moved down here years ago from N.Y. and the weather is perfect for many
speices of reptiles.
Again, don't do something that may cause trouble for you (unless of course your a rebel..lol)
Ciao'
