:The supermarket by my home sells prepackaged salad mix. There are half a dozen different mixes,
I generaly avoid the ones that contain alot of cabbage, spinach, or letuce. There is one package containing very dark greens and alot of purple leaves I believe it's called "Bordeaux Salad". to this salad add cut up timothy hay and carrots, and never forget to sprinkle vitamin powder on the food. On nice days I let him graze outside.
My tort eats like a pig!! I recommend letting him eat as much as he wants. I feed Skippy a large handfull of salad in the morning and again in the afternoon, he eats all of it. I will occasionally give him fast days when I cut back food or stop it all together except for a handfull of hay. I do this every other week for a day or two at the most. Always remember if you fast your tort to provide it with pleanty of water.
I leave the basking light in my tortoise habitat on all day long, so their basking sight is about 90*-95* and there is a cooler corner that is room temperature. At night I don't do anything special. Many reptiles, especially desert ones, do much better with a nightly temperature drop. And it gets quite cold in the desert at night.
Has anybody told you to get vet check-up? Get a vet check-up!!
Good luck with your new pet.
