: My wife and I own several reptiles: 2 red eared sliders, a fat-tailed gecko, a mali uro, getting a bearded dragon, and also 2 newts (not reptiles I realize). Anyway, we are thinking of getting a tortoise. What breed would you all recommend? We live in Florida, but we are renting so cannot have huge sulcata burrows in the yard ;) Ideally we would like a smallish tortoise that can be kept successfully indoors. Any ideas?

: Thank you :)

captive bred Redfoot or yellow foot. The red as a baby takes awhile to grow up and is perfect for Florida weather. I personally don't know too many captive breeders of Russians, which is a deterrent for me. I have heard of the egyptian dwarf tortoise, and apparently aren;t that difficult to care. They are a tad more expensive but are also one of the best for indoor enclosure besides a captive bred russian. Also any greeks or marginated would be good, but the ones that I have had have less of a personality than the redfooted.
