Denis,
Thanks for the information. Can you help with where I can get
one of these from.
Please e-mail me at jpm101@worldspy.net
: Hi,
: First of all let me introduce : I keep boettgeri and hermanni (nominate form) till more than 10 years and breed them every year. I have 5 females and have got 61 eggs in the incubator now!!! I think that I would have more than 50 babies...
: Yes, boettgeri is the hardiest hermanni subspecies and also the hardiest Testudo species!!! Some people would say that graeca, ... are hardier, but they don't live in Alaska or in Europe...
: If you know how to do the difference between hermanni and other species, it would be easier.
: T. h. hermanni : smaller subspecies, very dark in general. The plastron has 2 big black marks that are continuous. Under the eyes, there is a yellowish marks.
: T. h. boettgeri : the bigger subspecies, generally more yellowish. The plastron has 2 stright black marks that are not continuous (like a black spot on each scute). Under the eyes, there is not a yellowish mark.
: Regards
: Denis Mosimann
