From litterature and personal experiance it would seem the average cycle in general is around 28 days. For me this was true with leopards and Egyptians. It seems to hold true for other well acclimated tortoises as well. The tortoise should be in a routine laying cycle for this to hold true. I have some other tortoises that are not as consistant but they are not well acclimated.

: i've gotten one clutch that my dog found for me. he was sniffing the ground and i noticed the lighter soil from a few inches down was on top, so i dug and there they were. i did notice an increase in appetite, but don't recall any pacing or "on a mission" type activity. my question is, how long before she lays a second clutch? this way i can monitor her more around that time. i'm going to setup my video camera to watch the pen, but i don't want to leave it on all summer.
: thank again,
: steve
