I'm not sure on Redfoots but on leopards and Egyptians it can take anywhere form 1 to 8 hours start to finish.
The behaviore I look for is what I call the female 'tortoise with a mission'. When you see this you'll understand what I'm talking about. I've seen this in 5 species of tortoises.
: is there anything besides going off feed and wandering i can watch or check for to know my female redfoots are getting close to egg deposition? how long does digging/laying/covering take?
